Header Tools Lite and PopMailListRecipients do not work in V68

I am very happy with v60.9, but thought it was time to update to v68.3 since it has been out for awhile. However, I use Add Ons, and especially Header Tools Lite to edit the subject of received emails (I know there is a workaround by dragging message to Drafts, but it take more keystrokes and more time) and PopMailListRecipients to expand my mail lists to delete one or more names (I'm surprised this is not a native feature of TBird).

Then I found that my two favorite Add Ons won't work in 68 and I also did some reading about how hard TBird makes it for coders to update their Add Ons.

My hope is you will either make it easier for Add On coders to update their product (or make that unnecessary) or build these two important features directly into TBird.

Thank you

I'm not aware of any replacement for HTL, but there is one for PopMail:

https://addons.thunderbird.net/en-us/thunderbird/addon/popmaillistrecipients-2/

Or, you can right-click a mailing list in the Contacts sidebar (F9 in a Write window), Edit List, click OK, and the list contacts appear in the sidebar. Select contacts while holding Shift or Ctrl, then click Add to at the bottom of the bar.

Thank you. the popmail-2 add on seems to work great and easier to access. I would have marked the problem solved, but that still leaves the issues of losing HeaderLite. Hopefully someone makes a replacement for that one too, or it gets built in, since I don't see any indication that the original developer will update it.

I find it incredibly useful to change the header/subject of emails to make them easier to locate and to better describe contents for my purposes.

By the way I have also tried your F9 option and that is a nice alternative.

Someone suggested a work around for Header Tools Lite. I thought it was in this thread but I don't find it. Anyway, they suggested moving the message to drafts to edit the header. That does work, but the downside is that moving it to drafts changes the FROM field, and it is not possible to edit that back to the original sender, so that is not a good solution.

Any other ideas?

Thank you for the heads up on the new version of heardertools-lite that runs in TB68. Now I can finally upgrade. Hoorah!

sfhowes - another question for you. How did you find this add on. No matter how I search Add Ons it does not come up. Is that because it says "not reviewed by Mozilla" and is marked experimental. If so, when will it be reviewed and widely circulated?

I think I saw a newsgroup posting about the add-on. Not sure what the logic is with the add-on search on the official website, but if you search for 'thunderbird header tools lite' on Google in the last month, there are references in the first few results. That's often the best method to find add-ons that are new or not available from the TB site.

Thank you again. I just tried your search in Google and DuckDuckGo and on my PC no luck. I found our discussions, and the old versions, but no links taking me to the good one. Should I post this as a bug in Mozilla, i.e. that a perfectly good solution to the header edit problem in v68 exists but it is very hard to find?

This search refers to the new HTL in the first result, from Jan. 25.

You could submit this issue to Bugzilla, but I wouldn't recommend it, as I think the reply would be that the add-on hasn't been available long enough to be reviewed and added to the official website. Some reviews take months, but posting an inquiry in this forum often provides news about the latest developments.
