This feature is to keep your account more secure. You should only be asked to do this when you login on a new computer, but there are some exceptions where you may be asked to confirm your account again.

The process is designed to make sure that someone who may have guessed or stolen your password doesn't get access to your account. Since your Firefox Account may include your Firefox Sync data (which would include browsing data, usernames and passwords), it's vital to keep the information on your Firefox Account secure.

If you want to leave feedback for Firefox developers, you can use this link. Your feedback gets collected by a team of people who read it and gather data about the most common issues. However, it's unlikely that a security feature like this will ever be removed.

Hope this helps.

Passwords get stolen all of the time across multiple platforms using various methods (key loggers, phishing attacks, network sniffing, etc). Let's assume this scenario occurs.

You've linked your Firefox Account to Firefox Sync so that you can sync your data on your laptop with your data on your smartphone. Some of the data that you choose to sync are your usernames and passwords that aren't secured with a Master Password.

However, an attacker has installed some malware on your computer that logs all of the keys that you press on your keyboard. This allows them to discover the password for your Firefox Account. The attacker logs into your Firefox Account through Firefox Sync on their computer, so your data is loaded onto their computer.

Now that they have your Firefox data, they go to the logins and password window and click Show Passwords. Now they can see all of your passwords that you have saved to Firefox. It could be the password to your bank or email or social media account.

But let's rewind a step. Now assume that the same thing happens, but when the attacker attempts to log into your account on their computer, Firefox asks them to confirm the account. They don't know your email address or password for your email. They can't login. They can't access your account. They can't get your Firefox Sync data. They can't attack you.

This is just an example of course, but that's the reason that your Firefox Account may ask you to confirm your email address. It may be annoying, but it's a small price to pay in order to protect yourself.

If you don't buy into the scenario I painted for you and you think that there's no way that someone could know your password without you figuring out about it, here are three pages that I think you may want to read:

The easiest way to recover from an online attack is to simply stop it from happening in the first place.

I've provided you with the link to submit feedback, but that's the best that I can do for you. This forum is not the place for discussions about what you feel is or isn't a good feature.
