Why does this (chrome://FirefoxAccounts (Firefox Accounts credentials) - which is in my Saved Logins) have "Chrome" at the beginning? I understand that this has something to do with firefox sync, but i don't know why Chrome is involved.

Isisombululo esikhethiwe

Hello snyderjl,

Firefox uses the "chrome://" protocol to access its internal files and also uses chrome in other cases, like e.g. : userChrome.css - it is in no way related to Google's browser Chrome. Firefox used the word "chrome" long before Google named its browser "Chrome".....

Thank you for the explanation! You are correct, I thought it was tied to Google Chrome & I do not use any Google products.

Quite understandable (many people think those two are related .... )

I just posted a question on this. I too have been told Chrome reference is Google Chrome, I also do not use Google products, and I too do not want Google tracking me. Has anyone gone through the entire "about:config" screen and confirmed ALL the references to "chrome" are not Google related?

Whomever told you the chrome in Firefox is Google Chrome is incorrect or you misunderstood.

Note that the chrome://FirefoxAccounts entry in the password manager stores the Firefox Sync account authentication data (kA and kB) in JSON format.
