Firefox freezing

more options

FF 63.0 64 bit

Freezes randomly when open. Most of the time, its when some audio or video playing. Happens after a while and when moving the mouse.

Have:

turned off acceleration, re-installed, refreshed, turned off add ins.

Nothing has worked.

Please advise, I have also submitted crash reports, but have not heard back.

When you uninstalled firefox did you also delete mozilla folder?

Actually, no, just a reinstall over the old.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link} by holding down the <Shift> (Mac=Options) key, and then starting Firefox.

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-using-safe-mode

Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode that temporarily turns off hardware acceleration, resets some settings, and disables add-ons (extensions and themes). If the problem goes away, that tells us one thing. If it does not, that tells us something else.

Will try today in safe mode and see what happens.

Ok so have been playing for about 2 hours in safe mode, no issue so far.

So what now?

Start your Computer in safe mode with network support. Then start Firefox. Try Secure websites. Is the problem still there?

Will try, but you do understand that it does not immediately happen?

Also, doesnt FF generate reports?

more options

Firefox will create a crash report if the program crashes.

The computer may have log files if one knows how to access them.

The problem may have something to do with another program on the computer. Start the computer (Safe Mode) then start Firefox. Just let them sit for a while.

Note: For security reasons, disconnect your system from the outside.

Thanks, I know where the reports are in Win, just need someone to read them.

Not sure it will crash that way, since the time it has frozen, I have Internet open, a radio program on and am moving the mouse.

Thanks
