Are you using a MAC? Did you used to use the MAC address book in Thunderbird?

I'm presuming you are referring to the 'Personal Address Book'.

How to locate profile name folder: Make sure hidden files and folders are visible. http://kb.mozillazine.org/Show_hidden_files_and_folders

In Thunderbird 'Help' > 'Troubleshooting Information' click on 'Open folder' button a new window opens showing you the contents of your 'profile name' folder.

In your profile name folder locate 'abook.mab' file. what size is it?

check further down the list Do you see a file called 'abook.mab.bak' file? If yes, what size is it? If it shows it has a size do the following.

Exit thunderbird. Rename 'abook.mab' to say 'abook.mab.old' Rename 'abook.mab.bak' to say 'abook.mab'

Start Thunderbird check address book.

Please report back on results.

If no joy, do you have a backup of address book or backup of profile name folder?
