Mozilla makes reporting bugs and problems such as this very difficult. It's easier just to change browsers than try to participate in helping you fix your product. That is not a good business plan.

Please explain the problem in detail. What happens? Error messages?

Sites typically use either MP3 audio, which Firefox will attempt to play without any add-ons, or Flash media, which Firefox will use the Flash plugin to play. (For Flash, see: Why do I have to click to activate plugins?)

Forvo uses MP3. When I try the little blue "play" triangles here:

parlez-vous français ? in French

I do get the audio (on Windows 7), and Firefox shows the little speaker icon on the tab to indicate the tab is generating sound during that time.

Do you get a speaker icon on the tab?

If yes:

The icon also is a mute button, so if there is a "slash" through the icon, click it to unmute the tab. If you have a speaker and it's not marked as muted, then the problem may be where Firefox is sending audio output. Do you have the same issue with videos or other audio sources?

If no:

Can your Firefox play MP3 audio from other sites? This test page has an MP3 example you could try: http://hpr.dogphilosophy.net/test/
