Hi, your bank website was probably designed for Internet Explorer, as it might be making use of ActiveX, which is only available in IE. You can continue using IE to use your banking website, and Firefox for the rest of your web browsing needs.

I have no problem to log in to my bank but it concerns f.i. my digital postbox and the e-services of the town of Stockholm. How do I know which websites use ActiveX?

You will know it by how the sites work but they sometimes tell you before you login that they will use the word "We recommend this xxxx" for accessin this site. Otherwise you will have to ask them which is the preferred site to access your online account.

I got a message that I should start the Mobile BankID app which I already have. . The program tries to connect (a spinning ring) but after some time I got the message that time to access has run out

Then you need to contact whom apps your using to access your account sounds like they didn't set something or something isn't set right.
