Since going to FF57 my pc is lagging being unresponsive taking almost a minute to produce page results I dont know what to do
I updated to FF57 yesterday or day before & I'm pulling my hair out.... Everything is lagging or unresponsive when typing into search it can take up to a full minute just for the results to load this was not the case before upgrading!!!. Another thing I noticed is I'm seeing messages in the bottom left that says stuff like waiting for, reading, transferring data from. other issues i think are just frustration from new format i suspect as some things dont work like saving things to Pinterest ect. But I can't deal with the major lagging & unresponsiveness it's really excessive... when the page finally does load then I'll have frequent issues trying to click within page, scrolling ect. & even trouble closing out tabs...One other odd issue that also began today which may or may not be related but i figured it's worth a mention just incase it's relevant, on 2 different accounts my passwords wont work at all from this laptop says they're incorrect but i can go on my phone & enter them without issue... & caplock is off I turned on view password to make sure it is being entered correctly .I researched about trying to go back to previous ff but it said not to go back to ff56 but i think it was version 52 with some letters after it i forgot what they are but that version would have security patches until may or june of 2016 but the directions seemed kind of complicated...I dunno what to do but I can't deal with all the trouble loading pages/results, & unresponsiveness. Please forgive me but I'm not all that tech savvy so I need things kind of simplified if anyone can help me or has suggestions re: how to fix all this lagging stuff. I'm still using Windows 7 on a dell xps im not sure what other info you need my apologies & thank you in advance for any help or thoughts you may have to offer.

hi, thanks for reporting this. could you go to the firefox menu ≡ > help ? > troubleshooting information page and take a look in the Accessibility section if accessibility is set to "true" there.
if yes, can you please copy & paste this whole section into a reply in the forum and see if the following fixes the performance problem: go to the firefox menu ≡ > options > privacy & security panel and under permissions check the setting to prevent accessibility services from accessing your browser.
Please use more than 1 scanner as each uses diff tech : https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-caused-malware Save your Report and google each before deleting anything as do not want to delete something you need, If need help : https://forums.malwarebytes.com/topic/9573-im-infected-what-do-i-do-now/ Post in only 1 forum, then wait.
If something found, great, If nothing found then better than great.
Check to see if you can do things now if something was found. If not : This the best way to uninstall Firefox. Then Delete the Mozilla Firefox Folders in C:\Program Files and C:\Program Files(x86) Then restart system. Then run Windows Disk Cleanup. Then run it again and click the button that says Cleanup System Files. Note: your Firefox Profile is saved. Reinstall with Current Release Firefox 57.0 with a Full Version Installer https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/
Going back : unfortunately 56.0.2 is no longer safe to use for every day use do to secuity issues, but 52.5.0 ESR is! It will continue to get security updates until May 2018, and you can download and install it from this page: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/organizations/all/ Note : Legacy Extensions will be deleted or removed in any version update after May 2018.
You should make a backup of your Profile before going back and just because: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/back-and-restore-information-firefox-profiles

ok I wasn't sure if you wanted just the Accessibility section copied or everything but it wouldn't let me paste everything for some reason. I did check the prevent accessibility services option you mentioned above. I'm not positive that it is fixed as pinterest is still slow to load but it's atleast responding, i tried using the search feature & toggling between tabs & it's not being unresponsive as of yet but id say there's still some lag in loading pages compared to previous ff version i had where that wasnt a problem a blue pingpong ball continues bounces back n forth in the tab i dunno if thats the new loading symbol in place of the circle? & I'm still seeing the stuff in bottom left. thank you for your time.

You could try this please : Go the Menu then Tools --> Options --> Performance and untick everything. change the recommended size lower then see how it runs. Hardware Acceleration might have also been a issue so turn it off. Run it later and see as you turn things back on and test it, and again. Restart Firefox after making these changes please.
ok thank you under performance there was just the option to untick use recommended settings & the hardware acceleration box I've unticked both & will see how it goes. When you say change the size lower are you referring to content process limit , as thats the only other thing in that section it's on 4? Sorry I just don't want to assume thats what you mean? it's still not fixed I don't know what to do big siggghhhh :( will restoring to earlier date work? I can't keep wasting time waiting for pages to load/respond now im getting yellow messages at top saying something like detecting slow performance or a web page is slow to respond close or wait...then it suggested changing color profiles or something like that.. plus now sometimes 1/2 the page disappears & turns all white almost like part of the page is disappearing within itself after considerable time it eventually returns ... I've been a loyal FF user for many years but this version is seriously making me want to hitchhike on outta town :-( ... Should I turn hardware accelerator back on? Any other thoughts? Thanks again
I had similar problems. I went back to an older version, now it works. Download from here https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/organizations/all/ then uninstall FF, clear the mozilla folders in \program files\ (or x86) and then Install the old version. May be you might need to take a profile folder back from your last backup.
