Email taking up 170GB disk space. How do I delete "all mail" to free up space or is there a bug?
I have a 221GB SSD and emails are taking up the space as described above. I have tried deleting all mail but it reappears after deletion. How can I get rid of it?

Do you have a regular hard disk along with your SSD? If so, I'd put the Thunderbird profile on the HDD.

I guess from the reference to "All Mail" that this a gmail account using IMAP. In Account Settings, you can choose which folders to synchronise, and which folders to store locally. I'd argue that few users actually need the All Mail folder in Thunderbird.
Once you have done this, you could open the profile and delete the larger files. The "Local Directory" entry in your account settings will tell you where to look.

Thank you. Yes I have a HDD. The All mail does use IMAP. I repaired the all mail folder and this has released 169GB of space miraculously. Thanks for your reply; I will also try what you suggest.
