On 12/10 I installed v. 56.0.1 on my pc. Today I did that in my laptop. In extensions I see: safe browsing v.4 which I haven't on my pc. I used the same installer file for both machines. Please tell me how to get it on my pc.

Isisombululo esikhethiwe

Hi  !

That extension is part of a Mozilla experiment, called 'Shield Studies'. Without even knowing it, you may have volunteered for this Mozilla experiment. Would you go to : Options => Privacy & Security => under 'Data Collection and Use' : Did you uncheck : 'Allow Firefox to install and run studies ' or is it checked  ?

To check if you are enrolled in these studies :

Type in the address bar about:studies

Any extensions that you see listed there, you can either disable or remove, just like this Safe Browsing version 4 (at the end of the experiment they will be disabled anyway).

See for further information : https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/shield

Hi,

Thank you for your explanation, very helpful! I checked the data collection settings according your info. The option you mentioned isn't available. I see two options: allow FF to send technical and interaction data to Mozilla and allow FF to send crash reports to Mozilla, both checked 'on'. On my pc and laptop it's the same but the add-on is only on my laptop. I also have read the info about the add-on, decided not to use it and deleted. The reason is that I have not the knowledge and experience to take part in beta testing activities and cannot do any useful contribution. Hope you understand that.

There was nothing for you to do. It send anonymous info back as to how well that was working. As can tell it may or may not be added to a Firefox browser in the future.

Did not mention if deleting that add-on was of any benefit to you or not.

Please mark Happy112 answer as a solution if it was please. Thank You
