I cannot access any of my google sites - I use gmail all the time. Many of my other sites do not show correctly. I've tried the "advanced" and "make exemption" options without success.

Can you explain what is happening when you attempt to open Gmail?

Hi Fiz,

I get this "The owner of accounts.google.com has configured their web site improperly. To protect your information from being stolen, Firefox has not connected to this web site.

This site uses HTTP Strict Transport Security (HSTS) to specify that Firefox only connect to it securely. As a result, it is not possible to add an exception for this certificate."

When I go to "advanced" I get this. "accounts.google.com uses an invalid security certificate. The certificate is not trusted because the issuer certificate is unknown. The server might not be sending the appropriate intermediate certificates. An additional root certificate may need to be imported. Error code: SEC_ERROR_UNKNOWN_ISSUER"

You should never need to make exceptions for well-run sites. Most likely Firefox is no longer set up to work with your security filters. The following article is the first stop for that error code. Does it help?

The error message you are receiving doesn't indicate there is a problem with your time and date settings, however can you verify time and date settings on your computer are set correctly? This can cause issues verifying security certificates.

Thanks for confirming. Firefox can be set up to trust the fake certificates that Avast generates for secure sites, but I haven't researched the steps recently. If you decide that you want to use this feature, I suggest searching on Avast's support forum for the recommended steps to make Firefox compatible.

If you refreshed Firefox then you should have an "Old Firefox Data" folder on the desktop.

You can try to copy the cert8.db file that is present in the most recent profile folder in this backup to the current profile folder.

You can use the button on the "Help -> Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page to go to the current Firefox profile folder or use the about:profiles page.
