Not always, but more often lately, when I select a few of the emails in my inbox to send to trash, Thunderbird PUTS EVERYTHING in to the trash. Then I go to trash and select one to return it to the inbox and a dialog comes up to "empty all the trash", I cannot make that dialog box go away, when I choose cancel it persists, and I must use Task Manager to force close Thunderbird. Once it just started deleting all my trash, one by one, not as a group, but consecutively, one after the other, rapidly. And no matter what I tried I could not stop this. I have lost very important emails because of this. If it continues, I'm sorry to say, I will abandon the use of your product completely. Please help.

To diagnose problems with Thunderbird, try the following:

  • Restart Thunderbird with add-ons disabled (Thunderbird Safe Mode). On the Help menu, click on "Restart with Add-ons Disabled". If Thunderbird works like normal, there is an Add-on or Theme interfering with normal operations. You will need to re-enable add-ons one at a time until you locate the offender.
