I just changed my yahoo password and all of a sudden thunderbird won't retrieve e-mails anymore. The errormessage is very unhelpful: Sending of password for user xxx@rocketmail.com did not succeed. Mail server pop.mail.yahoo.de responded:

I already tried deleting my password in preferences/security, but thunderbird didn't even ask me for a new one, only displaying that message. A useful error message would be appreciated, because with this response i can't even search for a possible solution. Thanks for your help!

P.S.: File upload doesn't seem to work, otherwise I would have attached a screenshot.

Not sure why you are complaining about the error message here. Did you not see it started out with Mail Server Yahoo. It came from Yahoo. You need to ask them what the problem is.

If your password doesn't work, Thunderbird is coded to ask you to re-enter it manually. I'm not sure why you got a message from the server instead.

We'll need some more info about your Thunerbird setup. Go to Help > Troubleshooting Information then click Copy text to Clipboard. Open a reply to this post, and go to Edit > Paste to paste the info from your Troubleshooting Information page.

Ok, problem solved. Mistake on my part. While reseting my password I accidentally blocked non-securce apps in yahoo (https://help.yahoo.com/kb/SLN27791.html). Went to account settings and undid it, but apparently the change needed some hours to be applied. Funny that yahoo thinks thunderbird is not secure enough for them, as we all know how secure their systems are...

Not only that but they have blocked the process to get a key to use the supposedly more secure oAuth2.0. Pretty smart of them really.
