Cannot import Certificate Authority or permanently store certificate exception in Firefox 50.

more options

Hi,

My company runs an internal certificate authority and over the years I've been able to import the company CA into all my Firefox installations. Starting with version 48 or 49, I noticed that although Firefox still has all the UI options to import a CA, the import does not persist and company CA-signed certs are all marked invalid. Separately, it appears that you can no longer permanently store exceptions for sites with invalid certs either.

My question is if this is by design. My coworker is having the same issue. I couldn't find any release notes about disabling CA imports or anyone else posting about the same problem.

Thanks, -aymill

Each release of Firefox tends to tighten up requirements for secure connections and/or SSL certificates. However, it's difficult to guess what the issue might be with your configuration.

Can you find any explanation in Firefox's Browser Console (Ctrl+Shift+j) when visiting a site that triggers the problem? If you click the triangle next to the CSS button at the top of the console and uncheck Warnings, that will declutter the list of style warnings and hopefully make it easier to find security-related messages.
