I'm sorry, but your post is unclear. Are you asking about how Firefox stores its data?

I will ask my question again in english.

I want to save my settings like startup page and history not to be saved.

Every day i am back to square one. Startup page changed and history is to be saved. If i have to set the settings every day to my likings, i will be fed up with mozilla firefox and go to explorer.

Hi   !

Would you take a look at the article   'How to fix preferences that won't save'
http://mzl.la/1BAQrbZ
If you can't find the solution there,   we will have to keep looking   ......
(You can change the language in that article from English to Dutch, if you like:   on the top of the page, click on 'English', and change it to 'Dutch')

It's not Firefox, it's an outside program causing the issue.

Note: Some software, like Advanced SystemCare with Surfing Protection, can protect files in the Firefox profile folder against changes. If you have such software then check the settings or uninstall this software.

Let's try to pin-point the problem first, shall we   ?
Your settings keep changing every day;   did this happen after the latest
update   ?
(we are talking about the settings in the 3-bar menu, aren't we   ?)
Which Firefox version are you running right now   ?

Try Firefox Safe Mode to see if the problem goes away. Firefox Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode that temporarily turns off hardware acceleration, resets some settings, and disables add-ons (extensions and themes).

If Firefox is open, you can restart in Firefox Safe Mode from the Help menu:

  • Click the menu button New Fx Menu, click Help Help-29 and select Restart with Add-ons Disabled.

If Firefox is not running, you can start Firefox in Safe Mode as follows:

  • On Windows: Hold the Shift key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
  • On Mac: Hold the option key while starting Firefox.
  • On Linux: Quit Firefox, go to your Terminal and run firefox -safe-mode
(you may need to specify the Firefox installation path e.g. /usr/lib/firefox)

When the Firefox Safe Mode window appears, select "Start in Safe Mode".

If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, theme, or hardware acceleration. Please follow the steps in the Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems article to find the cause.

To exit Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.
