Hi, you can easily add website shortcut to your PC's Desktop: Create a desktop shortcut to a website. I'm not a Win8 user, so am not sure if you can add them to your Start Screen, however I think you can set Win8 to boot to your Desktop rather than the Start Screen.

Edit: This might be a bit convoluted, but it seems you can add shortcuts to the Start Screen using Internet Explorer, which should be openable using Firefox - http://www.thewindowsclub.com/pin-website-tile-shortcut-start-screen-windows (Thanks to fellow contributor Happy112 for pointing this out).
