To add a new tab much like chrome just click on the plus icon top right. Or if you wish to have an additional blank tab on your home page that opens when you first start add that as about:blank after a pipe symbol. or maybe use about:newtab. Note you may try those e.g. by keying about:newtab into the address bar.
