Rest is good. Reinstalling Firefox usually doesn't fix a problem with settings, but I guess we haven't determined one way or the other whether it's a problem with settings.

Hi Trevor, which password is it? For example:

  • Your Firefox Account password (used for Sync and other services)
  • Your Mozilla Support website password (for this site)
  • A different password

Hi jscher2000,

It is my Firefox account.

When you reset the password, do you get a confirmation email indicating that was successful? I don't know why the system would lose track of it after that.

Occasionally there are problems on the back end but I don't see any at the moment: https://status.services.mozilla.com/

Is there anything trying to auto-login to the account, either Firefox's password manager or an add-on?

Yes I receive this message. Please see uploaded image. I'm unsure what you mean by is anything trying to auto log in?

Okay, it seems the system accepted your new password. But you are having problem logging in with the new password?

Regarding auto-login: Firefox sometimes offers to save logins to log you into a site automatically in the future. Add-ons like LastPass also can do this. However, if an old login was saved and not updated by you, then allowing those features to try to log you in will cause errors.

I actually have zero add ons. Not to worry it is getting late for me. I think you are based eway out west to either Canada or USA. I may just re-instal Firefox and see what happens. I prefer it to the other browser and is my default.

Sorry I should of explained I'm chronically ill and need my rest.

I am having the same problem as the original poster but it looks like this explains the confusion.
