Firefox crashes - "bad pool caller"

I am regularly getting a blue screen shut down and the error "bad pool caller". The common thread I can tell is it happens when Firefox is running. I am going to use a different browser for a few days to confirm. Also seems to have started occurring after moving to Windows 10. Would having a older video card be a contributing cause? If there are any suggestions or questions please let me know. Thanks Gus50310

Blue screen of death errors are generally not due to Firefox, but usually your hardware or operating system.

You should try the following:

  1. Check that your hard drive is functioning properly and healthy
  2. Run a Windows CHKDSK
  3. Scan for registry errors (I recommend using the free CCleaner tool)

If that doesn't work, try reinstalling Firefox.

Hi FredMcD Thanks for taking the time reply and I followed your suggestions but the problem still occurs. It seems directly related to when I am using Firefox. I have had Firefox as my goto browser for a number of years but until there is a Firefox update to try or a path to get direct support on this issue I am just going to turn off its use. If there are any suggestions or questions please let me know.

Thanks FredMcD If it helps any a symptom that occurs and is a sign a crash is likely to be on the way is there will be a weird effect for a sec or so in the audio it that it gets warbled. Gus50310

Boot the computer in Windows Safe Mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen or hold down the Shift key) to see if that has effect.
