Thunderbird stopped, holds, then starts again in Windows 10
Thunderbird running under Windows 10 Home will run a bit, then stops responding, then starts again and repeats. The OS remembers keystrokes and mouse movements, and catches up to most of them when Thunderbird starts running after it stops. I don't know which version is running right now. I can't find an about tab to look at. I tried downloading a new version and installing it, but the problem remains. I read about disabling graphics acceleration, which I did, but that didn't work.
It seems to me that the problem did not start immediately after installing Windows10, so it could be some Windows update, but more likely some Thunderbird update.
This is, by far, the best email package out there, but I can't use it unless someone knows what's happening and why and how it can be fixed. I really dislike Yahoo mail, so for now, I do all my emails on my antique WXP computer where Thunderbird works properly.

glsoutt, the most common performance issue on Windows 10 has been related to antivirus software.
Which antivirus software do you run?
And if you start *Windows'* safe mode with networking enabled - win10 http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-10/change-startup-settings-in-windows-10
Does problem go away?
<sigh> glsoutt has disappeared
