firefox opens in page other than homepage and tech fix doesn't work because "target address is incorrect" and doesn't tell me what a correct address would be.
Firefox opens in a location other than my homepage. However, when I click on my homepage icon in Firefox it does take me to my homepage. Only when I launch Firefox does this have a problem. The fix Mozilla offers in Help does not work. When I remove the offending address in the target line an error window shows up telling me the address is incorrect and to make sure it's correct. When I add my homepage address I get the same thing. What IS the correct address to put in and why won't it allow me to fix using the help fix? This started about a week ago. I cleared my history/cache/cookies, did a security scan in case I incurred malware (nothing), checked for any recently unwanted installed programs (none) and did a restore to a point prior to this issue (this worked for about 12 hours). Now I am back to the same thing. Someone please help. I am moderately OCD and this is driving me crazy!

Please try the following:
- Go to
about:config
in the Firefox address bar - Located the
browser.startup.homepage
string - Change the value to your desired homepage
- Restart Firefox
If the above solution does not solve the issue, please refer to the following Mozilla support articles for steps on removing programs that have hijacked your homepage:
