I have been using Windows 7 and decided to test LinuxMint Cinnamon.

I Exported my Windows 7 Thunderbird Profile to an external drive and loaded LinuxMint Cinnamon. Unfortunately, there isn't any clear way to Import the Windows 7 Thunderbird Profile into the LinuxMint Thunderbird (version 38.2.0, same as the Windows 7 version). There also isn't any clear way to Export the Profile from LinuxMint version of Thunderbird, should I ever decide to change to another OS.

In view of this information, I quickly restored my saved Windows 7, wondering why this is so.

Anybody have any ideas?

There is no export or import, you simply copy the profile. You'll need to copy the profile to the correct location in your Linux home directory. See http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Thunderbird#Linux_and_Unix
