I haven't been able to find the answer to this. My icon looks fine in Chrome, but when I add my site to my home screen using Firefox the icon looks like it is trying to use the little desktop browser 'favicon'.

Is there some special code to tell firefox to use the high resolution image?

Not at the moment. Currently the ico is the default. There might be a work around to try to create the shortcut on your home screen from the bookmarks panel. Did this show an improvement?
