I am having a problem with Java and firefox. Any webpages that use Java either cause firefox to hangup(tabs are still clickable, and the window title changes but the page does not), or crash all together.(I can't even use the Detect Java app on their website, it just causes the hang, and never recovers)

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling Java and Firefox several times in different orders and nothing has corrected the problem yet. Java does not work in safe mode either. I am running Windows 8.1 Pro, Java 8, 45, and Firefox 37.0.2. I suspect that it a problem with either my computer or settings in Firefox because I am not getting any popups asking me to allow/deny pages that want to use Java like I get with IE. But Java does not work in IE either.

If there is any other info I can provide please let me know, I'm going nuts with this trying to figure out the problem and I'm stuck.

This might give more control over the java applets by allowing certian sites to execute java:

Also make sure to install the 32 bit version of Java, it shouldn't make a difference AFAIK, however Firefox is 32bit.

However it does not fix the hang. If this is reproducible on other computers, please also contact the developer of the applet.

Got it! It was the 32/64 bit Java problem i think. I uninstalled Java again, and instead of just doing the auto download from the Java site, I went into the download page and looked up the 32 bit version and everything works now, I never even thought of that before cause when you download it never says what version it is.

Thanks for the help!
