I have been using firefox and thunderbird for many years, but have had a computer crash. I am not sure if I have registered before, but is it possible to recover my settings including bookmarks and passwords? Thanks.

Registration for and setting up Sync is different than registering here for Support. As far as not knowing if you ever registered for Sync and whether you have an account or not goes, if you did and you don't have the user name (email address) and password for Sync (and maybe the Recovery Key for the previous of Sync) - and if that account hadn't been updated with Firefox 29 - you can't log in to recover your data. Sorry, but no one else would have your password even if you knew (or could guess) the email address that you used as your "user name" for Sync.
