When opening multiple bookmarks at once, how do I force Firefox to use the currently open tab for one of the bookmarks?

Using Firefox 33.1.1 on Windows 7, 64 bit, but I've had this problem for a while. I know that some users have complained about tabs being overwritten when opening bookmarks. There used to be a setting that instructed firefox to reuse the current tab or to open a bookmark in a new tab, yet this handy setting has been taken away. Without using plugins or addons, how do I force firefox to reuse the current tab.

Hi gmhelwig,

Maybe this configuration you are looking for can be found in the menus of Firefox (that you can open clicking in the button that have three little horizontal bars), clicking in 'Options'.

Then, in the window that opebs, selecting the second set of configurations (the one that is called 'Tabs') and checking or not the first checking box there.

Please let me know if you managed to do so and if it solves the problem.

Best Regards,

Marcus

Does it help if you open the about:blank page in the current tab in case Firefox doesn't want to overwrite a tab with a web page?

Set the browser.tabs.closeWindowWithLastTab pref to false on the about:config page to prevent closing the last tab from closing the window and make a close button appear if only one tab is open.
