I'm not getting green pad lock on Twitter, Outlook sometimes, earlier I always used to get EV verified green padlock.
Hi,
I'm a long time user of FireFox and I still prefer the smooth scrolling of FireFox to others, but from past few months I'm experiencing this issue.
When I try to log in to Twitter.com or Outlook.com, I sometimes get grey padlock and sometimes I get EV verified green padlock, because of this I've stopped using FireFox completely and I'm now using Chrome. This problem doesn't seem to exist in Chrome, in Chrome I'm always getting the EV verified padlock. This problem wasn't there in FireFox earlier. Why is this happening? Am I being subject to a man-in-the-attack?
I don't like the wacky scrolling of Chrome and want to get back to FireFox as quickly as possible but I can't with this worry.
Please help. Thanks.

Mozilla's understanding of the EV guidelines requires that we make a successful OCSP revocation check before showing the green badge. If we don't receive a response from the certificate authority (CA) that the certificate has not been revoked we downgrade the UI to show the less-trusted grey lock icon. At times the CAs OCSP server can get swamped and doesn't respond, but then on the next page load it might. Chrome does not do OCSP checks so they just assume the cert is not revoked and show the green lock.
Since you're seeing it switch between grey and green this is the most likely explanation. If you reload the page with a grey icon it will usually go green the second time assuming the OCSP server (or the network) was congested rather than offline.

What do you see if you click the "Site Identity Button" (globe/padlock) on the location/address bar?
Is there mixed content or are there other problems reported if you click "More Information" and if possible click View Certificate?
I don't know, I never checked.
Going by my experience, log in pages of Twitter.com and Outlook.com don't contain mixed content.
So, what do you see if you perform those steps?
Is there any mentioning of mixed content?
Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.
- Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
- Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window
This problems occurs randomly and I can only check that the next time it occurs. I'm using the default theme.
