Moving mouse slows Flash Player down drastically?

Within the last few days, I've run into a problem with sites that stream video via Flash (like YouTube and Twitch.tv). When I watch videos, it plays totally fine until I move my mouse pointer over the video player. Doing so causes the video's framerate to drop dramatically and doing things like clicking the video to pause and unpause have a noticeable delay. Flash is updated, Firefox is updated, and I've even reset Firefox through the Troubleshooting Information page, but the problem persists and only on Firefox. Chrome does not have any issue playing video.

Any explanation as to why this is happening all of a sudden would be much appreciated!

EDIT: Forgot to mention - Firefox will occasionally leave an error message after I've closed it. It says:

"Firefox has stopped working

Windows can check online for a solution to the problem. - Check online for a solution and close the program - Close the program"

Clicking "Check online for a solution" brings up a small window with a loading bar and once it's done, it just closes and doesn't do anything else.

Hello,

Try Firefox Safe Mode to see if the problem goes away. Firefox Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode that turns off some settings and disables most add-ons (extensions and themes).

(If you're using an added theme, switch to the Default theme.)

If Firefox is open, you can restart in Firefox Safe Mode from the Help menu by clicking on the Restart with Add-ons Disabled... menu item:
FirefoxSafeMode

If Firefox is not running, you can start Firefox in Safe Mode as follows:

  • On Windows: Hold the Shift key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
  • On Mac: Hold the option key while starting Firefox.
  • On Linux: Quit Firefox, go to your Terminal and run firefox -safe-mode
(you may need to specify the Firefox installation path e.g. /usr/lib/firefox)

Once you get the pop-up, just select "'Start in Safe Mode" Safe Mode Fx 15 - Win

If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. Please follow the Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems article to find the cause.

To exit Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.

When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help others with the same problem.

Thank you.

Thanks for the help!

I restarted in Safe Mode but the problem still occurred, so I went to the [issues with plugins"] page and after turning off all my plugins, the problem is gone.

Made some educated guesses and turns out disabling the "Shockwave Flash 13.0.0.182" plugin solves the problem for me! I'm very curious as to what the problem actually is, though. Re-enabling the plugin brings the problem back, but I can't use certain websites if the plugin is disabled.
