I updated to FF 28.0 portable edition (PortableApps.com), and it refuses to start. Any ideas?

I have been running FF portable from a memory stick for years without any issues, but after the upgrade to v28.0, it refuses to start. It 's simply a matter of nothing happening when I push the button. I can see that it occupies the chunk of memory it usually does, but then... nothing. I have tried uninstalling it and then reinstalling, and that cured the problem once. When I turned it off and then tried it again, the same thing as before happened: Nothing. Right now, I am using it on a very old XP machine, and as soon as I have posted this, I will try it on a newer Win7 machine.

Hi,

I read that you were going to try on a Win7 machine. Does it start up in Windows 7?

Portable Firefox has been working fine for me ever since I started using it and have not had any problems with it.

Can you try starting Firefox in Safe Mode?

  • Navigate to the Firefox folder that contains the files.
  • Hold SHIFT then right click an empty space in the window and click Open command prompt here
  • In the CMD window that comes up (a black screen), type firefox.exe -safemode

Does it open then?
