When typing in firefox, using a hard-wired USB keyboard, letters are frequently doubled (e.g. frrequenntly ddoubbled)..
When I am using fireefox, and typinng into text documentts within the fiireefox winndow, the letters thatt appearr onscreen are doubled. I press the key oon the keyboard onne time, but the letterr shows up on the sccreen twicee. This problem does not occur inn any otherr programs. It onnly happens in the firefox (e.g. everything works fine inn Microsoft Word).

This is what I could find about firefox keyboard layouts:
- Hold left control and tap right shift to cycle through keyboard layouts
- in the about:config page search for accessibility and see if any have been set to true
- In the Device Manager, make sure all the drivers are up to date for the keyboard
- Is there an action stored for the keyboard? https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/set-how-firefox-handles-different-fi...
- Common Microsoft Keyboard issues
If this does not help, please run a virus scan. Sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of.
You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:
- Microsoft Safety Scanner
- MalwareBytes' Anti-Malware
- TDSSKiller - AntiRootkit Utility
- Hitman Pro
- ESET Online Scanner
Microsoft Security Essentials is a good permanent antivirus for Windows 7/Vista/XP if you don't already have one.
Further information can be found in the Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware article.
