Earlier, there used to be an option of private browsing in drop down menu of Tools. But in the latest version 19.0, this option is not available, what can be done to enable it?

hello, please refer to How do I turn on Private Browsing?

Start Private Browsing should still be there in the Tools menu in Firefox 19.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe mode start window or otherwise make changes.

I had this problem in Firefox Beta 20, but then researched it and solved it.

Mozilla moved the control. It's not under "tools' anymore but instead its under "file.' What's more is that you can set an individual window to be private, keeping your regular tab(s) open at the same time.

Hope this helps.
