Please go to your control panel then to uninstall a program then find the yahoo toolbar and uninstall it.

The Yahoo Toolbar doesnt show up anywhere to be un-installed, that was my problem.

The way I had to do was to tweak the Firefox folder so it can not contain a folder named "yahoo" or a folder named anything with the word "yahoo" inside.

In order to do this, which finally worked, I had to spend one whole hour of reading source code and make calls to my more programming-oriented friends.

This solution is of course not to recommend to the standard user, since its very time wasting...

Mozilla nor the Firefox browser itself does not install any toolbars including the Yahoo one.

It could have been installed by a software install or update recently as some of them are bundled with such things. Or Firefox was downloaded from Yahoo and not mozilla.org

If you found a "Yahoo" folder or Yahoo files inside your Mozilla Firefox installation folder, you may have installed a "customized" version of Firefox from a third-party site. For example, Yahoo has a "customized" version of Firefox for download, at http://downloads.yahoo.com/firefox/

What you can do is a "clean reinstall" of Firefox, which means you remove Firefox and any leftover program files and then reinstall Firefox by downloading a fresh copy from mozilla.org - see the Basic Troubleshooting "Reinstall Firefox" step.

On Windows, you can do a clean reinstall of Firefox as follows:

1. Download the latest Desktop version of Firefox from http://www.mozilla.org and save the setup file to your computer.
2. After the download finishes, close all Firefox windows (click Exit from the Firefox or File menu) and confirm all upcoming messages.
3. Now, uninstall Firefox by following the steps mentioned in the Uninstall Firefox article.

IMPORTANT: On Windows, the uninstaller has the option to remove your personal data and settings. Make sure that you do not check this option; otherwise all of your bookmarks, passwords, extensions, user customizations and other Firefox user profile data will be removed from your computer.

After uninstalling Firefox on Windows, delete the "Mozilla Firefox" program folder, located by default in one of these locations:

• (On 32-bit Windows) C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
• (On 64-bit Windows) C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox

1. Go to the Windows Start menu and click on "Computer".
2. In the Explorer window that opens, double click Local Disk (C:) to open the C:\ drive.
3. Find the "Program Files (x86)" folder or "Program Files" folder.
   • On 32-bit Windows, double-click the Program Files folder to open it.
   • On 64-bit Windows, you will see a "Program Files (x86)" folder AND a "Program Files" folder. Open the Program Files (x86) folder.
4. Look for a Mozilla Firefox folder. If you find one, right-click it and select Delete and confirm that you want to move the folder to the Recycle Bin.

Now, go ahead and reinstall Firefox:

1. Double-click the downloaded installation file and go through the steps of the installation wizard.
2. Once the wizard is finished, choose to directly open Firefox after clicking the Finish button.

Your information must be out of date regarding Mozilla not installing the Yahoo toolbar. I have just now downloaded Firefox 19 from the Mozilla website, and the Yahoo toolbar is indeed contained in the Mozilla download, which I do not want either.

The question still remains, how do we remove the Yahoo toolbar? It really ticks me off to constantly be getting programs that I don't want while making it difficult if not impossible to remove them.

I tried all this and the Yahoo space is still there on the new installation. I am not a technician and do not want to start searching registry places as I never asked for this to be placed on the Mozilla page please explain simple terms how to get rid of it PERMANENTLY

maggi14au, Again if you downloaded Firefox from www.mozilla.org then it does NOT come with ANY toolbars including the Yahoo! toolbar as Mozilla has never bundled any toolbars with any Firefox version for any OS.

If you download Firefox from http://firefox.yahoo.com then it will come with the toolbar. Also as said some applications comes bundled with things like Firefox extensions and will install into Firefox.

Thank you for the support James but I did download from Mozilla.org website. The annoying thing has gone for the moment thanks to another person help but the proof will come in the morning when I try to open Firefox again after shutting down the computer for the night. I thank everyone for their support, it is a pleasure to get such a fast response to questions.

I had the same problem, after I installed Yahoo Messenger. I asked not to install the toolbar, but it was installed. Then I uninstalled it, I disabled it from addons, yet, the toolbar was there no matter what I did. I uninstalled Firefox, reinstalled, with the download from mozilla, the toolbar was still there. I did all that one has to do in order to uninstall a piece of software, without being "the tech guy". I do not have the same problem in Chrome or Internet Explorer. It was uninstalled from all other browsers when I removed the program from control panel. I can't see what I can do to get rid of it. I choose to just hide it for now, but it bugs me that I have a piece of software that behaves like a virus, doing stuff I don't want it to do. And for the record, I am not confused about the search for yahoo and toolbar for yahooo. Right clicking on the interface, allowed me to check or uncheck exactly that "yahoo toolbar".
