google.com search result links fail to open page

FF 9.0.1, Mac OSX 10.6.8.

I go to google.com, search, and a list of results appears. I click on a blue link, and instead of following the link to the page, the google results seem to reload/reappear. If I "command-click" the blue link, it will open in a new tab just fine. However, sometimes I don't want a new tab, I want to click the blue link and have the page open in my current tab.
