Accessing bookmarks freezes firefox 7.0.1
I upgraded (from 3.6, I think) to 7.0.1, and whenever I open the bookmark library ("Show ALl Bookmarks") and click on a bookmark, it freezes not only the library window, but any other firefox window I have open. No messages or anything, just no response. If I don't open the bookmark library, I can access bookmarks from the bookmark menu, but there is something wrong there too. I right-click a bookmark and it takes about 15 seconds for the context menu to appear. Is there anything I can try before I revert to my old version?
I uninstalled and installed again, same problem. On my first installation, I set up Sync, not sure if that may have anything to do with it.
Thanks, RF

Thanks Cor-el. So as I understand it, I need to go back to my old version of Firefox, and wait for 8.0 to come out before I upgrade. Correct?

Same thing is happening to me. Firefox freezes for a minute or two, but other programs are working (but slowly).
If you start up Windows Task Manager, it shows that CPU usage has suddenly shot up to nearly 100%, and the Firefox task is listed as "Not Responding".
This only started recently -- about version 6 or 7.
Are you using Sync?

I have this same problem with Firefox 7.0.1 on Mac OS X 10.6.latest. Clicking a bookmark on the bookmark bar freezes up the entire browser for a few seconds. Repeating it afterwards seems fine. I wonder if there is a blocking IO trying to increment the # of times the bookmark has been visited and writing it to disk before allowing the browser to proceed loading the bookmark URL. I'm on a Macbook, with disk set to sleep when idle, and the delay roughly corresponds to disk wakeup/spinup time.
Same problem, found a fix:
1) Get NoScript 2) Disable Superfish java bs that loads on startup.
Works for me, no more hang @ startup and can go straight to bookmarks.
