add-ons have disappeared
I have just updated from FF4.1 I believe, to ff6.02. before the update started, the update window showed a message stating that two of my add-ons where not compatible with the new version of FF. I clicked ok and the update continued. The update was completed and had closed and everything seem to be completed successfully and then a window opened on my desktop, headed Checking Add-on Compatibility. This window stayed open for some time without finishing, for over 15 minutes. After some time with nothing happening, I clicked Close, then FF restarted with version 6.02 but with absolutely No Add-ons. They have ALL vanished. Please advise how I can recover them. Thank you for your reply, but I don't think you read my original post completely. I have NO Add-ons ! They are not disabled, they are Gone ! All I have is This;
You don't have any add-ons of this type installed.
Nothing there.
-> click Firefox button and click Add-ons (or Tools Menu -> Add-ons)
- Add-ons Manager tab will open
- go to Extension section
Do you see any add-ons listed here ??

It is possible that there is a problem with the file(s) that store the extensions registry.
Delete the files extensions.* (extensions.sqlite, extensions.ini, extensions.cache, extensions.rdf) and compatibility.ini in the Firefox profile folder to reset the extensions registry.
New files will be created when required.

If you see disabled, not compatible, extensions in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions" then click the Tools button at the left side of the Search Bar (or click the "Find Updates" button in older Firefox versions) to do a compatibility check or see if there is an update.
Again, I'm not sure you understand my problem. I am Not having difficultly Adding extensions or add-ons. I am Not having difficulty finding Where to view my Add-ons. The Add-ons I have have NOT been disabled. My Add-ons I have had for Ages have Disappeared !
I had a Numbers of add-ons that I had added to my Firefox over the the years, but when I upgraded to FF6, they all Disappeared. As you will note in my First Post above, when the upgrade had fished, a window appeared stating that it was checking compatibility of my add-ons. This took ages and ages and nothing appeared to be happening. so after 15 or 20 minutes, I clicked close and then FF restarted. It was Then that I noticed that ALL my Previous Add-ons that I had previously been enjoying on FF4.1 had Disappeared. I don't know, but perhaps my closing of the Compatibility Check window was the cause of this. I am asking, is there Anyway I can Find all those previous Add-ons I was enjoying and Reinstate to the FF6 I have now ?
Does Anyone know How to Do This ?

Did you try deleting the extensions.* files that cor-el recommended?
Chances are that the extensions are still in the Profile folder \extensions\ folder but the files that keep the information about your installed extensions got scrambled when Firefox got stuck during the compatibility check and you closed Firefox. By deleting those files with Firefox closed, Firefox will be forced to rebuild the files it needs upon startup.
Thank you the-edmeister, you are the only one that Appears to have read my previous posts. I have my add-ons back now. I restarted the computer and all my add-ons are now back, but my computer has reverted back to FF4.0.1. . . . Damn. I am unsure whether I want to go through All this again by trying to update to FF6.00 again.
I Just downloaded Opera a few Hours ago. Why did it take me so long to do that ? It's Marvelous, way faster than firefox and Everything Works ! lol Also, most of those things I had to use those add-ons for are built in. It seems my problems are over.
@ arangi My son loves Opera.. Perhaps instead of Chrome I'll give Opera a try I'm over FF & their programmers & quick releases which leave the end users to do the patch jobs.. Test thoroughly release later..
One computer I still run 3.6.22 the other I reverted back to 5.0 series. ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/ has every version.
edit: removed random third-party link. Also keep in mind that 4.0.* and 5.0.* is not secure.

Thank you muchly. Deleting a bunch of the extension folders worked like a charm. AND it was much easier than the uninstall-reinstall I had planned to use next. Be well
Well, my Opera is Fantastic ! Still working Great. I haven't had One problem since downloading it. Meanwhile, my firefox has since lost All my add-ons AND ALL my bookmarks, because I haven't used it for over a month. Now, if I can just work out who to Completely delete it from my computer, Including all those little files hidden everywhere . . . .
