I have just formatted my PC and reinstalled windows 7, followed immediately by firefox 5.0 and avast antivirus. I have installed no add-ons and have not transferred any backed up bookmarks or passwords. This is a 100% clean install.

The first time I tried to access hotmail.com a popup appeared stating something about certificates. Not an "add exception" popup, but something else. Unfortunately I have not been able to replicate the popup and cannot advise what it stated.

Every time I try to access hotmail I get a blank page.

Is it after you enter your login information or before?

When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.

1. Clear Firefox's Cache

orange Firefox button or Tools menu > Options > Advanced

On the Network mini-tab > Offline Storage : "Clear Now"

2. If needed, delete the site's cookies here

While viewing a page on the site (somewhere on live.com), right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"

Then try reloading Hotmail. Does that help?

In some other threads about Hotmail issues, Microsoft posted this:

"Send us a quick note at hotmailhelp@microsoft.com, and include the Hotmail address where you're seeing the error and a way for us to reach you."

By Hotmail address, I think they mean the server URL, which varies depending on where you are accessing your mail from.

Ah sorry, duplicate post.

I solved it here;

https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/questions/847164?s=hotmail&as=s

Asd I said though, this was a FRESH install, so no saved cache or cookies to delete in the first place.
