I am working on a Mac that is operating onMac OSX version 10.4.11. I think I am following the correct procedure -- I went to the Firefox bookmark manager, followed the path Import HTML/from an HTML file, and then located the Navigator file "bookmarks.html" inside my users folder. But I click on Open, the window closes, and nothing happens.

You can try to open that bookmarks.html file in Firefox via File > Open File to see if it has content.
Bookmarks imported via the Bookmarks Manager should appear at the end of the Bookmarks Menu folder.

Thank you for your help. Some bookmarks had been inserted into 3.6.15 before I attempted the import, and I had assumed -- incorrectly -- that the imported bookmark file would override those, not just add onto them. When I looked lower on the list of bookmarks, I realized that the imported bookmarks were, indeed, there. I was also confused because the bookmarks toolbar did not automatically change to the toolbar from Navigator. All is well now. Again, thank you.
