The window that Firefox opens in is much too small
When Firefox opens, there's no start-up window until I select open nes window. Then the window that opens is much too small, about 1/8th of the s reen in top right hand corner.

You can try http://kb.mozillazine.org/Corrupt_localstore.rdf
Try to move (delete) the Firefox plist file.
Go to "Library > Preferences" and remove the plist file for Firefox (org.mozilla.firefox.plist).
