How do I delete a bookmark when it leads to a broken ("404 error") link (with a different URL), the bookmark is not on my bookmark toolbar, and the bookmark does not appear in the library (it is not in the "Unorganized Bookmarks" section, and since the ol

I have been trying to clean out my bookmarks, but I cannot delete bookmarks for URLs that are now gone and that jump to a different URL with a 404 error message. How do I delete these dead-link bookmarks? One of your knowledge-base pages suggested going to the bookmark toolbar and deleting it, but my bookmark's not in the toolbar. It isn't in the "unorganized bookmarks" section either. Since the bookmark automatically jumps to the 404-error-message URL, it's pointless to try to edit the bookmark by changing its location to the toolbar or in "unorganized bookmarks."

If you go to Bookmarks > Organize Bookmarks, you'll be taken to the Bookmarks page. On the left should be an 'Unsorted Bookmarks' under 'All Bookmarks'. Is the bookmark also not there?

No, it's not there. In fact, only one of my many, many unsorted bookmarks was listed when I highlighted Unsorted Bookmarks. I've been trying to transfer my unsorted bookmarks there, but when the link is dead and jumps to a different URL, it's useless to move the page into Unsorted Bookmarks because it will be the 'new' url (the 404 error message URL) that will appear in Unsorted Bookmarks. It took me a really long time to find out that I could move bookmarks into Unsorted Bookmarks. Why has Firefox made its bookmarks so hard to organize?

I'll try out the link suggested above later today.

I tried to follow some links suggested in posts from 2008 and 2009 complaining of the same or similar problems, but they were all dead. I'm glad this one is still active.

thanks
