I have "Open previous windows and tabs" checked in the settings, And have been using firefox in that manner for years, Like I would close the browser without thinking, And coming back to what i was working on. But today for some reason, I came back to all my tabs gone, And I openned multiple tabs and closed, And opened the browser again and there were no more tabs. (I know about ctrl+shift+N, But that is not automatic) Please help I really need this feature, As i don't like closing tabs!

hi HanZotaro ,

If you've been using the "Open previous windows and tabs" option in Mozilla Firefox, and suddenly your tabs are not being restored when you open the browser, here are some steps to help you troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue:

1. **Check Your Firefox Settings:**

  Make sure that the option to open previous windows and tabs is still enabled in your Firefox settings:
  - Click the menu button (three horizontal lines) in the top-right corner.
  - Select "Options" (or "Preferences" on macOS).
  - In the left sidebar, click on "General."
  - Under the "Startup" section, ensure that "Open tabs from the previous session" is selected.

2. **Restart Firefox:** Sometimes, Firefox may need a restart to restore your tabs. Close the browser completely and then reopen it. This should trigger the restoration of your previous tabs.

3. **Check for Session Restore Issues:**

  Occasionally, issues with session restore may prevent tabs from being restored. To troubleshoot this:
  - Type `about:config` in the Firefox address bar and press Enter.
  - Accept the risk and continue.
  - In the search bar at the top, type "browser.sessionstore.resume_from_crash" and ensure it is set to "true."
  - Additionally, check "browser.sessionstore.max_resumed_crashes" and make sure it is set to a positive value (e.g., 1).

4. **Check for Profile Issues:**

  Sometimes, profile corruption can lead to session restore problems. You can create a new profile or refresh your existing one. To create a new profile:
  - Close Firefox completely.
  - Open the Run dialog (Press Win + R) and type the following and press Enter:
    ```
    firefox.exe -P
    ```
  - In the Profile Manager, click "Create Profile" and follow the prompts.
  - Start Firefox with the new profile and check if the session restore works.
  To refresh your existing profile:
  - Type `about:support` in the Firefox address bar and press Enter.
  - Click the "Refresh Firefox" button.

5. **Check for Other Software Interference:**

  Sometimes, third-party software can interfere with Firefox's session restore feature. Try temporarily disabling or uninstalling any browser extensions or third-party software that might be affecting Firefox.

6. **Update Firefox:**

  Ensure that you are using the latest version of Firefox. Updates may include bug fixes that can resolve issues like this. Follow the steps mentioned in my previous response to check for updates.

7. **Verify Crash Reports:**

  If Firefox crashed before losing your tabs, you can check for crash reports and possibly find more information on the issue. Type `about:crashes` in the Firefox address bar to access the crash reports.

8. **Backup and Restore Session Manually:**

  If none of the above steps work, you can try manually restoring your session from a backup:
  - Type `about:profiles` in the address bar and press Enter.
  - Under the "Local Directory" section, you'll find a folder named "sessionstore-backups." You can navigate to this folder and check if there are any JSON files with session backup data. You can try restoring from one of these files manually.

Thanks Regards
