We're sorry to hear that Firefox is crashing. In order to assist you better, please follow the steps below to provide us crash IDs to help us learn more about your crash.

The crash report is several pages of data. We need the report numbers to see the whole report.

  1. Enter about:crashes in the Firefox address bar and press Enter. A list of Submitted/Unsubmitted Crash Reports will appear, similar to the one shown below.
  2. Copy the 5 most recent Submitted Report IDs that start with bp- and then go back to your forum question and paste those IDs into the "Post a Reply" box.

Note: If a recent Report ID does not start with bp- click on it to submit the report.

(Please don't take a screenshot of your crashes, just copy and paste the IDs. The below image is just an example of what your Firefox screen should look like.)

Hi Chris, are you able to submit those reports? After submission, the code changes to one we can follow (or instead of pasting that report number, you could paste the URL of the crash report on the crash-stats server).

If you haven't already tried Firefox's Troubleshoot Mode, it's worth a try to see whether it improves stability. In Troubleshoot Mode, Firefox temporarily deactivates extensions, hardware acceleration, and some other advanced features to bypass issues that can cause problems with pages.

If Firefox is running:

You can restart Firefox in Troubleshoot Mode using either:

  • "3-bar" menu button > Help > Troubleshoot Mode... (before Fx88: Restart with Add-ons Disabled)
  • (menu bar) Help menu > Troubleshoot Mode... (before Fx88: Restart with Add-ons Disabled)

and OK the restart. A small dialog should appear. Click the Open button (before Fx88: "Start in Safe Mode" button).

If Firefox is not running:

Hold down the option/alt key when starting Firefox. (On Windows, hold down the Shift key instead of the option/alt key.) A small dialog should appear. Click the Open button (before Fx88: "Start in Safe Mode" button).

Note: Don't use the Refresh without first reviewing this article to understand what will be deleted: Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings.

Any improvement?

Thanks, Chris. According to the reports, three of the crashes occurred on Jan. 13th, one Jan. 18th, one Jan. 19th. It might still be the same issue you are experiencing today.

I think it is related to initializing a webcam. Your crash reports are linked to a bug about Mersive and Solstice Conference Camera. Do either of those names ring a bell?

The last status in the bug is that Mersive was going to release a fix in version 5.5.3 of their software, but that they do not yet support Ventura, which makes it sounds like Ventura users might need to uninstall their software. Ref. https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1798503#c20
