Upon installation of the newest versions (v83) of Firefox, Firefox became unresponsive: Unable to click weblinks, scroll, or even click on GUI menu bar options. Restarting in Safe Mode, refreshing, and uninstall/re-install of Firefox failed to solve these issues. Additional troubleshooting involved disabling accessibility, disabling DNS prefetch, adjusting memory cache, disabling network proxy, and etc. as put forth in various forum threads.

Only successful solution was to roll back to version 79 (Last known good version.)

I run Firefox, Firefox Nightly, and Firefox Developer Edition. This allows me to update one interface at a time, while retaining at least one active known good interface in reserve.

Some problems occur when your Internet security program was set to trust the previous version of Firefox, but no longer recognizes your updated version as trusted. Now how to fix the problem: To allow Firefox to connect to the Internet again;

  • Make sure your Internet security software is up-to-date (i.e. you are running the latest version).
  • Remove Firefox from your program's list of trusted or recognized programs. For detailed instructions, see

Configure firewalls so that Firefox can access the Internet. {web link}

Start your Computer in safe mode with network support. Then start Firefox. Try Secure websites. Is the problem still there?
