Slugginess due to backlight of Mozilla Icon backlight switching on everytime I click for a search ???
Over the past few weeks my Laptop has become extremely sluggish and, on many occasions will not open the designated website. I am continually confronted by messages stating, ' a webpage is slowing your browser down ' followed by two boxes cotaining the wording ' what do you want to do, 'Stop It' - 'Wait '. Why these are submitted, I do not have a clue, they are neither activeor informative, if I click on any one of these requests, the whole message collapse and disappears. I this is someone's attempt at being clever, he should be given the dunces' cap forever and a day. I am probably off the mark here but I have a suspicion that it could be related to the FIREFOX Icon which never switches off its backlight, I have to do that manually and for a few minutes the laptop is doing its job. Could this be what is referred to the website that is slowing me down ? Any solution to my problem, or any assistance leading to a solution shall be gratefully received Regards William Walls

”Webpage is slowing down your browser” This is the new way the browser tells you there is a problem with the script program(s). https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/warning-unresponsive-script?cache=no

Thank You Fred McD, greatly appreciated. It did not help though, you sent me a couple of U.S. sites, although I did look at them. Just to say that it is the Firefox Icon that is the problem. As stated, each move I make it illuminates and is interfering with the actions I wish to make, each click I make, there is hesitation on my laptop, I click the icon off and I proceed to my chosen site, when in the site, if I scroll or click on something within the site, the icon illuminates and slows everything down again. I am continually switching the icon off and then it comes back on again when I indicat a search. Not a happy scenario. Laptop could be going for a flight out of my window. Regards William Walls
Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link}
A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?
