Respected Sir/Madam, I would like to know,Why, Mozilla Firefox Staff, have NOT provided," Guest Mode " in their browser. Even though,I am using the latest & most updated version of the same,I can NOT find it,though Google Chrome & Microsoft Edge are already providing us,these options. 2) What is the Exact Difference between these 2 modes of browsing.Which is MOST SAFE,HOW? Can you please email the Merits & Demerits of both to me,as,I want to learn. Requesting herewith for a clear cut & Candid reply,& thanking you, Shrineevas

Hi

Firefox doesn't have a specific guest mode that automatically creates a new profile and removes this profile when you are done. You can possibly use a separate profile and use "Clear history when Firefox closes" to clear all session data or use Private Browsing mode, but this isn't perfect and you would have to run a Windows script to remove all files in this profile in both AppData\Roaming and AppData\Local to cleanup any leftovers from using "Clear history when Firefox closes".

See "Creating a profile":

You can use a desktop shortcut that specifies the profile or use a Windows guest account if this is about your own device.

Firefox uses two locations for the Firefox profile folder Location used for the main profile that keeps your personal data (Root Directory on about:profiles).

  • C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<profile>

Location used for the disk cache and other temporary files (Local Directory on about:profiles).

  • C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<profile>
