Why does "What's New" show what is installed, rather than what would be installed?
I was prompted to upgrade to V76.0 but "What's New" just shows what was in 75.0
Had it shown me what was in 76.0 (the Lockwise crap) I NEVER WOULD HAVE "UPGRADED"
I hate this "feature" it's an abomination. I don't need it, I don't want it, and I now need to get rid of it.
There's no one "looking over my shoulder in my home.
Firefox is getting way above itself and trying to take over everything.
Give users a warning BEFORE you make fundamental changes.

The release notes for Firefox 76 show what is new compared with Firefox 75, but that link is shown AFTER you update. I don't think there is a link to view it before you update, although I haven't checked.
I assume the feature you don't like is having to enter your Windows login to view passwords. This was created as an alternative to a Master Password. You can instead create a Master Password if you like, but perhaps that wouldn't make your life any simpler.

If you are not worried about third parties gaining local access or remote access to files on your computer, then a Master Password might be overkill for you.
In that case, you can turn off the integration with Windows as follows (at least for now, this may not last very long):
(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter/Return. Click the button accepting the risk.
(2) In the search box in the page, type or paste os-auth and pause while the list is filtered
(3) Double-click the signon.management.page.os-auth.enabled preference to switch the value from true to false

Note that support for signon.management.page.os-auth.enabled can be removed at any time in future Firefox versions.

Thanks jscher2000 that fix worked for disabling this "feature".
However, it still begs the question, Why are we only shown the What's New" for the version we're already running, and not what we'd be committing to if we "upgrade" - until it's too late?
Where were you looking at What's New? Would there be a link for it in your history? This is what I have for post-update:
