I don't know where lockwise came from. It doesn't show up in my addons. I tried about: config and found signon.management.overrideURI but see no way to change the value.

On the about:logins page where it shows the password there is an "eye" which can be clicked to "Show password".

Lockwise is the new Logins Manager in Firefox, not an add-on.

Thank you for trying to help, but I want to go back to the old way where I can actually look at the password if I want to

The default value of signon.management.overrideURI is about:logins that opens the Lockwise Password Manager. Lockwise allows to add a new password in case Firefox doesn't offer to store the password.

If you double-click this pref and clear its value then you get the legacy Password Manager, but it is likely that this will stop working in a few major releases from now.

Lockwise is a disaster. It keeps trying to log in to websites with out of date passwords, and I am wasting a lot of time having to reset them when I can't remember the latest ones. The whole point of a password manager is to avoid this.

How do I get Lockwise to stop working??? Where does it get my details from?? I am logged in under a new account on a new laptop and as a different user. It shows my details from a different user. !!! Why do I log in as a different user on my laptop and on my browser and then it goes and show my passwords for the whole world (this username and browser is used for work)

I have repeatedly deleted the passwords but next thing it shows again!

I thought Firefox is about protecting data???

-- I can list the steps in more detail.

Lockwise is built-in as the new interface for your saved logins in Firefox, replacing the old "pop-up" Password Manager window. But actually, that window is still available in Firefox 70 if you need it. Here's how you can switch.

(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter/Return. Click the button accepting the risk.

(2) In the search box above the list, type or paste signon and pause while the list is filtered

(3) Double-click the signon.management.overrideURI preference to display a dialog where you can edit the value, delete the entire text, then click OK

If it doesn't work as expected, to switch back to the Lockwise page, right-click the preference and choose Reset.

Lockwise has totally screwed my computer up. Lost ALL my passwords, and is causing one hell of a nightmare for me after many years using firefox.

I want it gone, and my information back

Hello BG Holder,

May I suggest that you start a new thread and post a question using this link :

(you'll have to scroll down to the bottom of the page)

I'm suggesting this as your problem seems more complex than the topic of this thread,
