By the way, your add-ons list didn't include the Flash player. Some video sites still might require that. These articles have info on how to install and enable the Shockwave Flash plugin:

Hi tbones0711, Are you on a movie hosting site like Yify or Watch32? Most movie hosting sites use 'redirects' which, often times, are malicious in content. If your Privacy & Security settings are strict enough, the content will be blocked. Close the redirect tab or window right away. Most often, you will be redirected 2 or 3 times and then the video will play. There are redirect blocking extensions available for Firefox, also.

One other thing, thank you for sharing your extensions list, you have an add-on named Media Player. Have you had that for a long time, or could this issue be related?

As an experiment, try disabling it on the Add-ons page. Either:

  • Ctrl+Shift+a (Mac: Command+Shift+a)
  • "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
  • type or paste about:addons in the address bar and press Enter/Return

In the left column of the Add-ons page, click Extensions.

Then cast a critical eye over the list on the right side. Any extensions Firefox installs for built-in features are hidden from this page, so everything listed here is your choice (and your responsibility) to manage. For Media Player, use the ••• menu on the right side of its listing to Disable it. Or Remove it.

Any improvement?

You first need to open the player via its toolbar icon. Then you can drop a supported media file (e.g. MP4) in the player area.
