Firefox profile deleted on Windows logout
I have been running into a problem for a couple of months now where when my computer restarts and I launch Firefox for the first time after the restart, I am presented with a blank profile (i.e. no saved customizations, add-ons, browser history, etc.)
I have narrowed this down to occurring when I log out of Windows. The contents of %APPDATA%\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<profile that I'm using> get deleted when I log out, confirmed by accessing the filesystem from another computer. When I start Firefox again the contents are repopulated with what I assume is the default fresh profile.
One point of note is that this does NOT appear to occur if my computer crashes for whatever reason (such as a Bluescreen). It also does not occur within the same login session (i.e. if I close Firefox and re-open it without logging out it does not recreate the profile).
Some of the troubleshooting steps that I have tried already include the following:
- Re-create the profile from the Profile manager and use a new one.
- Turn off my antivirus software.
- Uninstall Firefox completely and remove the contents of the profile folders manually before re-installing Firefox from the newest version.
None of my attempts so far have been successful at preventing this from happening, so I'm looking for assistance in finding other troubleshooting steps I might try. Thank you for any assistance you can provide.
