After trying to install Shareoholic add-on on Firefox 52.2.0 on MacOS I noticed that all my add-on buttons are gone. The addons are still installed and enabled (e.g. Foxclocks pane still shows, LastPass still offers to fill in etc) but there is no way to put back the buttons on the toolbar.

I tried the customisation options but the buttons are not available there either.

I've since removed Sheroholic and tried to restart Firefox, disable and re-enable addons, even to remove and re-install them but it doesn't help.

Thanks @jscher2000. Your hint didn't solve the problem but pointed me to a new direction.

First about "Restore Defaults" - it brought back a button of one extension but missed many others.

I ended up using FEBE extension to backup the profile, create a new temporary profile, switch to it and then use FEBE to restore the backup into the default profile. Now I could add back the missing buttons.

Could you try using "Restore Defaults" to reset your toolbar layout? There's a button for that at the bottom of the Customize tab. This article will get you there: Customize Firefox controls, buttons and toolbars.

Does that allow you to re-add your add-on buttons?
