Update to Firefox 51.0.1 by using Help > About Firefox

The original 51.0 version had a fault with the geolocation feature, which the 51.0.1 release that was sent out today fixes.

Firefox will always ask for permission before using Geolocation. You can see the setting for the current tab in "Tools > Page Info > Permissions". If Geolocation isn't used then websites can do a reverse DNS look up of your IP address and that is usually not very accurate.

Go to the web page. Once the page is loading, mouse to the address bar and Left click the icon.

You can tap the Alt key or press F10 to show the Menu Bar.

You can also reach the "Tools -> Page Info" via these steps.

  • click the "Site Identity Button" (Control Center 'i' button) at the left end of the location/address bar
  • click the arrow to expand the security message
  • click "More Information" to open "Tools -> Page Info"
  • click "Permissions" to inspect and modify permissions
  • click "Security" to inspect and modify cookies and passwords in a standalone window
  • click "View Cookies" in "Tools -> Page Info -> Security" to inspect the cookies from the domain in the currently selected tab
  • click "View Saved Passwords" in "Tools -> Page Info -> Security" to inspect the passwords from the domain in the currently selected tab
